About ACOSA PDF Print E-mail

The acronym ACOSA stands for 'Abadina College Old students' association. It is the umbrella body which in principle

consists of all individuals that have passed through Abadina College, university of Ibadan at one time or the other since the school was established in September 1977.

Going by this, the membership of ACOSA spans the entire 25 sets that have so far graduated from the school starting

from the very first set that passed out in 1982 to the most recent in 2006.

These members are scattered all over the globe and a significant number occupy relevant positions in their respective
 spheres of endeavor.

Our Vision

The vision of Abadina College Old Students Association (ACOSA) is to build a formidable network among ex-students both here and in Diaspora, for the collective good of all and the Alma Mater: Hence;

1.) To form a viable unit for the collective good of all, and that of the Alma Mater.

2.) To promote healthy rivalry among members.

3.) To positively affect the lives of all members.

Our Mission

Our mission is to establish a viable an sustainable association of Abadina College ex-students whose common interests is underpinned by a moral obligation towards their alma Mater and to themselves.

History Of ACOSA

ACOSA, as we know it today, started as a result of the efforts of a few good fellows who passed out of the school in the year 1998. For more lucid details and facts, see the speech delivered at the June 2004 grand get-together on behalf of the coordinators by its Secretary. Please Click Here»

Formal Inauguration of ACOSA

Prior to Saturday, 18th December 2004. ACOSA had existed as an informal organization in terms of acceptability and recognition. The build-up to the epoch-making event of this day, an event that took place at the University of Ibadan New science Lecture theater (The CBN Hall), was one that was characterized by a conscious and purposeful networking among the new and relatively old sets. Efforts was made to get the school authorities and teachers, both serving and retired, to be witnesses at the programme.

The second principal of the school, Rtd. Arch Bishop Omodumbi, along with ex-teachers like Mrs. Fadipe, Mrs. Badejo, Dr (Mrs) Okilagbe and Mr. Subair as well as the current principal and teachers (at that time),  Mr. Shoyele and Mr. Olawoyin added glamour to the occasion.

Remarkably, a member of the very first graduating set , Mr. Demola Idowu was also present. Other notable members were of the 1983 set (Dr. Kehinde Kester, Mr. Ben. Ohuruogu and Mr. Femi Ogidan),
1984 set (Mr. afolabi Tubosun and Mrs A.O. Shoyinka),
1985 set (Mr. wole Ojelabi, Mr. Gbenga)
1986 set (Engr. Abiodun Ojelabi) and 1988 (Dr. leke Ifesanya) to mention but a few.

And so with all this persons and other equally important members and under the atmosphere of conviviality the association was formally inaugurated and a Mr. Ben Ohuruogu - led care-taker committee was formed to govern its affairs for a tentative two year period.
